Americans Get the Best Democracy Money Can Buy

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

In the US, monied interests buy politicians like ordinary Americans buy toothpaste.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP), both wings of the one-party state spent nearly $14 billion in 2020 election campaigning — "blowing away spending records."

The amount is around double what was spent in 2016.

Nearly half the amount was spent by the Trump and Biden campaigns, the rest on congressional races.

The latest numbers are further evidence of how monied interests run the US and its political process.

Democracy in action when elections are held is pure illusion. Privileged interests run thing for their own benefit exclusively.

Ordinary Americans have no say over how the nation is run or by whom.

Dark forces manipulate things to assure things turn out their way.

In 2016, they favored Trump over Hillary. With 2020 early voting numbers at nearly 100 million — mostly by mail-in ballots — it'll be days or weeks to complete counting.

While polls favor Biden over Trump, it may not be known for some time who triumphed and who lost.

Charles Ortel calls himself an "investor and writer interested in economics, geopolitics (and) history…"

Interviewed by the Tehran Times, he predicts that Trump will triumph over Biden/Harris.

He's not alone in his assessment.

Trafalgar Polls head Robert Cahaly believes "(t)here's a lot of hidden Trump votes out there."

He'll "likely…have an Electoral College victory."

According to a model used by Professor Helmut Norpoth, he gives Trump a 91% chance to win.

He correctly predicted his triumph over Hillary in 2016.

Pew Research found that 50% of US registered voters believe Trump will defeat Biden/Harris —compared to 48% feeling they'll triumph.

Noted investor Jeffrey Grundlach believes polls don't reflect true voter sentiment. He predicts a second term for Trump.

Even strong DJT critic Mitt Romney feels the same way.

Australian Professor Bela Stantic says Trump will triumph based on social media data.

According to investment strategist Sam Stovall, the S&P index's rise from July 31 - October 31 most often signals a victory for the incumbent. president in an election year.

The incumbent surprised by defeating Hillary in 2016. Perhaps a repeat performance is coming this time.

Trump rallies outdrew Biden with larger crowds.

Even pro-Biden/Harris NYT editors admitted that Trump outdrew his challenger on campaign stops.

The latest Real Clear Politics average of polls from 10/25 - 11/2 has Biden leading Trump by 6.7 points.

One poll from 10/28 - 11/1 shows a slim one-point spread between them, favoring the challenger.

On Tuesday, November 3, the final poll takes place, the only one that counts.

Whoever US dark forces favor will win, how things always turn out under a fantasy democracy system.

Last week, Vladimir Putin said "(w)e will accept any decision of the American people and we will work with any administration," adding:

"In any case, we feel calm."

He noted that since Trump took office in January 2017, the US unlawfully sanctioned Russia 46 times.

Yet in 2019, bilateral trade "increased by 30%," he noted.

On Tuesday, Islamic Revolution leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the following:

"No matter who wins the US elections, it won't affect our policy toward the US. Our policy is calculated and clear."

"The US regime suffers from severe political, civil, and moral deviations."

"Such a regime won't last long. Of course, if certain people hold office, they speed up its destruction, while with others it may take a little longer."

China's Global Times (GT) said America's "2020 election reflects (its) rapid political decay and decline," adding:

"Effective governance in the US is relatively or absolutely insufficient."

"The government's responsibility - to provide society with the necessary public goods to cope with the impact and challenge of a crisis - is absent."

A "more stable, healthy and constructive development on the road to build(ing) a community with a shared future for mankind is a more important task than the final result of the 2020 US" election.

Separately, GT noted that campaign promises by Republicans and Dems are meaningless.

Time and again they're broken, one of many "grave defects" of US fantasy democracy.

Whatever the outcome, noted investor Jim Rogers predicts "the worst economic crisis of my lifetime" ahead.

He's not alone in predicting this grim outlook.
