US Defends its Indefensible Foreign Policy

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

US foreign policy under both wings of its war party is all about pressuring, bullying, bribing, and otherwise demanding subservience from the world community of nations — smashing ones unwilling to bow to a higher power.

Washington's permanent war agenda by hot and other means  targets nations it doesn't control — world peace and stability considered threats to US national security and its military, industrial complex that thrives on endless wars on invented enemies.

Weeks earlier, Pompeo reinvented US aggression in Syria by blaming Bashar al-Assad of "obstruct(ing) a peaceful, political resolution of" endless war — both wings of the US war party want continued endlessly.

He falsely accused Assad of waging war on the Syrian people he's gone all out to defend against US aggression since early 2011.

He reinvented reality by falsely accusing Assad and his wife Asma of "war profiteer(ing)."

And he repeated the Big Lie by falsely blaming Assad for atrocities committed against Syrians by US supported ISIS, al-Nusra, and likeminded jihadists.

A further litany of bald-faced Big Lies followed, similar to how he falsely blames other nations for crimes committed against them by the US and its terrorist proxies.

On Monday, Southfront reported that the Trump regime is calling for Iranian military advisors in Syria to leave, not Russian forces involved in defending the country against US backed terrorists.

Trump reinvented the reality of Washington's aim to transform Syria into another US vassal state, along with wanting an Israeli rival neutralized — falsely calling US occupation of northern and southern parts of the country "purely oil related (sic)."

According to Pompeo's State Department's spokeswoman on Syria:

"We have been very clear about our common political goals in Syria," adding:

"The political goals of the United States towards Syria have been consistent and remain unchanged."

"This is the longterm defeat of ISIS and Al-Qaeda (sic), an irreversible political solution to the Syrian conflict in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254 (sic)," and the elimination of all forces supported by Iran."

"These three overarching goals are interconnected, as they are all necessary to achieve sustainable peace for the Syrian people (sic)."

US forever war against Syria and its long-suffering people continues because bipartisan GOP and Dem hardliners reject restoration of peace and stability to the country and region.

Washington's interest in Syrian oil is preventing its ruling authorities from having access to the nation's own resources.

As they've done before, Russia and Syria condemned the "illegal presence of the United States and its allies in the territories of a sovereign Syrian state."

They also denounced an illegal license granted to a US oil company by the Trump regime to steal natural resources belonging to the Syrian Arab Republic and its people.

Saudi forces are also illegally operating in Syria in Deir Ezzor where the country's largest oil field is located.

Weeks earlier, Russia's UN envoy Vassily Nebenzya reiterated Moscow's call for illegally occupying US forces to leave Syria "and return its natural resources to a government that can protect the environment," adding:

"Syria loses up to $40 million monthly due to lack of access to its oil fields. Returning them to the Syrian government would be better help from the United States than the donor contribution announced at a conference in Brussels."

On September 6, Sergey Lavrov visited Damascus along with Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov for talks with their Syrian counterparts and Bashar al-Assad.

Syria is heavily dependent on Russian help in combatting US supported jihadists.

State Department and Pentagon claims about being in the country and neighboring Iraq to combat ISIS are Big Lies fooling no one but US establishment media that repeat them.

On Monday, Assad thanked Russia and its visiting high-level delegation for political, economic and military aid provided at a time of great need by Syria and its people.

Borisov stressed that Moscow greatly values the strategically important partnership against the region's imperial threat and jihadists it supports.

While Russian and Syrian officials met in Damascus, Russian warplanes struck ISIS positions in Homs Governorate in response to an attack by their jihadists on government troops the previous day.

Last week, an unnamed US intelligence official said Washington has no strategy in Syria.

War in its 10th years continues with no plan for ending it.
