US Pushing the Envelope Toward Confrontation with China?

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

A clash of civilizations exists between the US and China. The same is true about Russia, Iran, and other nations opposed to Washington's hegemonic aims.

Its unipolar moment passed, multi-world polarity the new reality, what the US ruling class doesn't accept but can't change to its advantage.

The more preemptive wars both right wings of its one-party state wage, pouring countless trillions of dollars down a black hole of waste, fraud, and abuse, the sooner it pushes its inexorable decline over the edge — destructive "Western values" its undoing.

China is rising toward becoming the world's leading economy in the years ahead.

In contrast to US pressure, bullying, bribing, and smashing nations to control them, China pursues peace and cooperative relations with world community countries.

Its inexorable rise while America declines risks unthinkable confrontation between two thermonuclear powers.

What's madness is possible because of US rage to revive Pax Americana that long ago passed.

Irreconcilable differences define US relations with China.

Diplomatic outreach by Beijing's ruling authorities to turn things around is an exercise in futility, a waste of time — doomed to fail whenever tried.

Hegemons don't negotiate. They demand, the breach between both nations widening no matter which wing of the US war party runs things.

Are made-in-the USA irreconcilable differences pushing things toward inevitable confrontation?

Is war between both super-powers just a matter of time?

Are unacceptable Pentagon intrusions in the South China Sea where its warships don't belong — on the phony pretext of freedom of navigation — the spark that will ignite conflict?

Two avoidable global wars occurred at the cost of tens of millions of lives and vast destruction.

Is a third one out of the question or inevitable? The major difference between now and earlier is today's nuclear age.

If these weapons are detonated in enough numbers, nuclear winter could follow.

Physician, nuclear expert, anti-war activist Helen Caldicott earlier explained that "nuclear technology threatens life on our planet with extinction," adding:

"If present trends continue, the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink will soon be contaminated with enough radioactive pollutants to pose a potential health hazard far greater than any plague humanity has ever experienced."

A "single failure of nuclear deterrence (could) start nuclear war."

Devastating consequences would follow, potentially killing "tens of millions of people, and caus(ing) long-term, catastrophic disruptions of the global climate and massive destruction of Earth's protective ozone layer."

"The result would be a global nuclear famine that could kill up to one billion people" — perhaps everyone and all other lifeforms.

No antidotes exist to stop mass extinction if things are pushed over the edge to all-out nuclear war.

If occurs, it'll be made in the USA, its power-crazed fanatics bearing full responsibility.

In 1946, months after WW II ended, a moment of relative peace, Albert Einstein's warning went unheeded, saying:

"The unleashed power of the atom has changed everything save our modes of thinking, and thus we drift toward unparalleled catastrophe."

Humanity has two options. End the threat of nuclear war by eliminating these weapons or risk mass destruction and possible extinction.

China's Global Times asked: "Will there be a war between China and the US?"

Strategic mistrust appears irreversible. The US military's presence near Chinese waters risks confrontation by accident or design.

If begun, it'll be hard to contain, especially because the US is a belligerent state, waging forever wars on humanity in multiple theaters — world peace, stability, and cooperative relations with other nations considered non-starters.

The US and China clearly want war between them avoided because of potentially catastrophic consequences.

Both nations are able to turn cities of adversaries to smoldering rubble.

China has operational hypersonic weapons and long-range ballistic missile technology to deliver them with nuclear warheads against targets anywhere.

The US lags way behind Russian and Chinese hypersonic weapons technology.

Pentagon commanders know war with China or Russia can't be won.

Washington's bipartisan criminal class knows nothing but pushing the envelope toward greater unchallenged wealth and power worldwide that's beyond its ability to achieve.

Beijing understands what Washington never accepted. Nations waging endless wars on humanity sow their own demise as world powers.

The dustbin of history awaits them, the fate of all empires in world history, no exceptions.

Despite going all-out for peace and cooperative relations with the US and West, if belligerently attacked, China will hit back hard in self-defense, its legitimate UN Charter right.

Half a century ago, the last time the US fought a land war in Asia, North Vietnamese forces defeated superior Pentagon firepower.

If US warmongers attack China preemptively, what's highly unlikely but possible, a similar outcome will follow.

There's virtually no chance that US forces will defeat China in its part of the world.

Yet if Washington initiates war that goes nuclear, humanity will lose globally if things are pushed too far.

Global Times stressed the following:

"When it comes to our ability to mobilize people and resources to safeguard China's core interests, when it comes to the will to fight to the end, Washington can hardly compare with Beijing, and" the Pentagon clearly "knows this…"

The Trump regime continues waging endless war on China by other means.

There's virtually no chance for a change in US policy ahead no matter which wing of its war party runs things.

It's a prescription for endless global conflicts.

If against China or Russia ahead by accident or design, humanity may not survive the onslaught.
