Russian Foreign Ministry on Venezuela, Syria, and COVID-19

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (MZ below) denounced the ideological viciousness of some nations and entities for failing to work cooperatively with countries in need at a time of a COVID-19 public health emergency.

Bowing to US hegemonic aims, they partnered with the Trump regime's war by other means on Iran, Venezuela, and other nations for failing to trade and maintain normal relations with countries on the US target list for regime change.

MZ: "(S)elfish interests make them forget about human rights and ignore the interests of other people, of ordinary people," adding:

"I cannot but note an absolutely outrageous case of Venezuela and its relations with the IMF."

The loan shark of last resort IMF "raised…up to $1 trillion to help countries deal with the coronavirus outbreak."

Correction: The US-controlled IMF took advantage of crisis conditions to grant toxic loans in return for nation-state pounds of flesh that inflict enormous harm on ordinary people in countries where their leadership gets in bed with an organization no one should have anything to do with.

MZ: "Caracas submitted a $5 billion application signed by President Nicolas Maduro to the IMF managing director (Kristalina Georgieva, a US imperial tool)."

She or her representive responded saying the agency "is not in a position to consider this request (sic)."

"There is no clarity on recognition at this time of Venezuela's government among some of the IMF member states (sic)."

No ambiguity whatever exists, of course. The IMF, World Bank, and other international lending agencies follow orders from Washington, doing its bidding.

Illegally imposed US sanctions on targeted countries are economic and medical terrorism.

They're all about crushing their economies and immiserating their people — notably Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, Russia, China, North Korea, Syria, and Nicaragua.

Instead of uniting against US economic and medical terrorism, most world community countries support it by blocking normal relations with targeted countries threatening no one.

Discussing developments in Syria, MZ noted visits by Trump regime officials with al-Qaeda-linked White Helmets in the country's north near Turkey's border.

Consorting with the devil occurred "against the background of yet another irresponsible anti-Russia propaganda campaign that Washington launched in connection with the developments in the Idlib de-escalation zone," said MZ, adding:

Much of the province remains controlled by US/Turkish supported jihadists.

"The main goal of (US officials meeting with jihadists in Syria was) to discredit the antiterrorist efforts of the Syrian government and to hold Damascus and its allies responsible for the humanitarian situation in" the country's northwest for what the US and its imperial partners bear full responsibility.

Pompeo and other hardline extremist infesting the Trump regime are going all-out to prevent conflict resolution in Syria.

Their agenda is similar against all sovereign nations the US doesn't control — wanting them raped and destroyed, their resources looted, their people exploited as serfs.

It's "clear" to everyone paying attention that ISIS, other jihadists, and White Helmets working with them "aim to shape a false information environment and facilitate outside interference in Syria's internal affairs for the benefit of the geopolitical interests of" the US and partnered regimes, MZ explained.

On Friday, Pompeo falsely accused Russia, China and Iran of spreading disinformation about COVID-19, adding:

"There are coordinated efforts to disparage what America is doing and our activity to do all the things President Trump has set into motion (sic)."

"It is pretty diffused…We have certainly seen it come from places like China, and Russia and Iran (sic)."

In response, MZ slammed Pompeo and his EU counterparts without mentioning their names, saying:

"(A)llegations that Russia is spreading disinformation and fake news about the coronavirus in Europe and the world are perfect examples of disinformation and fake news."

Charges require "evidence." None exists so they're baseless — typical of how the US operates under both right wings of its war party, blaming others for its own wrongdoing.

The same goes for its Western, Israeli, and other partners in high crimes.

Anti-Russia accusations aren't new. They've been around for over a century.

US and EU officials "lost their reputation (and credibility)" long ago, MZ stressed.

She added that Moscow is working cooperatively with China, Iran, and other countries in helping them combat and contain

COVID-19 outbreaks.

The US agenda is polar opposite, wanting people in counties on its target list for regime change decimated by the virus, doing pathetically little to help its own citizens.

Before US coronavirus outbreaks began occurring in large numbers, Trump and regime hardliners ignored US intelligence community warnings about the situation needing urgent attention.

Instead, they pretended that the situation would resolve itself with no federal intervention.

Trump falsely claimed that the made-in-the-US virus originated in China — further proof that he's unfit to lead in any public office at any level.
