War on US Supported Terrorists in Syria Continues

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Following principles agreed to by Vladimir Putin and Turkey's Erdogan in Moscow Thursday, regarding conflict in Syria's Idlib province, the war by Syrian forces on terrorists backed by his regime and Trump's continues — greatly aided by Russian airpower, Hezbollah fighters, and Iranian military advisors.

Bashar al-Assad's political and media advisor Bouthiana Shaaban explained where things stand as follows:

"The agreement is in the interest of Syria. It is part of diplomatic, military and political tracks."

The Syrian Arab Republic continues to fight the scourge of US/NATO/Turkish/Israeli/Saudi supported "terrorism on behalf of the whole world, and it is going ahead in combating it until liberating the last part of the Syrian land" is achieved.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova made similar comments, saying:

"I would like to point out without referring to (Thursday's) talks (between Putin and Erdogan) that as far as efforts to eliminate militants and terrorists go, if they are designated as such, they must be eradicated, first and foremost, by the Syrian armed forces and the forces of countries that legally cooperate with the Syrian authorities," adding:

"(T)he agreement that Turkey will eliminate terrorists in Idlib on its own" is still binding.

Make no mistake. Throughout nine years of war on sovereign Syria, Turkey's Erdogan supported and continues to support ISIS, al-Qaeda, its al-Nusra offshoot, and likeminded terrorists.

He's an enemy of restoring peace and stability to Syria, not an advocate of conflict resolution he opposes.

No evidence suggests he turned a page from swords to plowshares in Syria, just the opposite by his hostile actions.

His forces continue to operate illegally in Syrian territory, providing arms, other material support, and safe haven for jihadists cross-borden in Turkey.

Judge him by his actions, not his rhetoric. He's allied with the US and NATO for regime change in Syria — for his own self-interest.

He aims to annex northern Syrian territory bordering Turkey. Future events will show his continued hostility toward Assad, Syria's sovereign independence, and his unchanged revanchist aims.

Russia has a tiger by the tail in dealing with him, a figure never to be trusted, a despot hostile to whatever conflicts with his personal aims.

US war in Syria was launched to transform the nation into a client state, isolate Iran, and install pro-Western fascist rule in both countries.

The US notably wants control over vast Iranian oil and gas reserves, along with gaining a chokehold over the most hydrocarbon-rich part of the world.

The Trump regime is at war with both countries without formally declaring it.

DJT's UN envoy Kelly Craft's announced "108 million in additional humanitarian assistance for the people of Syria (sic)."

According to the State Department, the "US humanitarian response (to Syria) is more than $10.6 billion since" the Obama regime launched war on the country in March 2011.

So-called US "humanitarian assistance" to Syria has entirely been for weapons, munitions, and other material aid for jihadists to continue endless war on the country's sovereignty and its long-suffering people.

It's all gone for regime change, none of it going to ordinary Syrians in need.

Post-9/11 alone, the US spent multi-trillions of dollars for endless wars of aggression and other hostile actions on humanity.

According to an investigation by Economics Professor Mark Skidmore, the Pentagon (DOD) and Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) can't account for around $21 trillion in undocumented expenditures from 1998 - 2015.

Multi-trillions more no doubt have gone down a black hole of waste, fraud and abuse since that time by these and other US departments and agencies — an unprecedented amount of public corruption in world history, at the expense of vital homeland needs gone begging.

Skidmore, a public finance expert, earlier said "(w)e know from official government sources that indicate $21 trillion is, in some way, unaccounted for."

"Furthermore, if we come back to the Constitution, all spending needs to be authorized by Congress."

"It looks to me, and I think I can conclude with a high degree of certainty, there is money flowing in, as well as out, that is unaccounted for."

"That's the one thing we know from these documents, that there is $21 trillion in unaccounted funds" over a 17-year period alone through 2015.

If a study was conducted of all US spending by all departments and agencies throughout the post-WW II period for the past 75 years, countless tens of trillions of dollars would likely be discovered to be unaccounted for.

Whether or not Willie Sutton actually said he robbed banks because "(t)hat's where the money is," reportedly stealing an estimated $2 million dollars when active, his ill-gotten gains pale in comparison to the grandest of grand unaccounted for grand theft from public coffers no doubt continuing daily.

Money in unimaginable amounts isn't in bank vaults. It's available by digitally creating it in virtually limitless amounts.

The vast majority of it is for ill, not good, for powerful interests, for endless wars of aggression — off-the-books, out of sight and mind, Skidmore saying:

"Some high ranking government official authorized the disabling of all the links to the key documents. We know that."

He downloaded incriminating documents to save before they were hidden from public view.

Over half a century ago, the late Senator Everett Dirksen famously said: "A billion here, a billion there…(P)retty soon you're talking (about) real money."

If alive today, he'd substitute trillion for billion.

Only the grandest of grand thieves in Washington likely know how much was stolen, generations of ordinary Americans the big losers.

So are countless tens of millions in nations the US raped and destroyed.
