Cheerleading Imperial High Crimes, a NYT Specialty

The self-styled newspaper of record operates as a mouthpiece for wealth, power, and privileged interests exclusively — supporting endless imperial wars, other hostile actions, and neoliberal harshness against the public welfare.

On sovereign independent nations unwilling to sell out their national interests to a higher power in Washington, the Times supports replacing their governments with US-controlled puppet rule.

For the last 40 years, the broadsheet backed regime change in Iran by whatever it takes to topple its legitimate government, no matter the human cost. More on this below.

Days of violence, vandalism and chaos last month in Tehran and other Iranian cities were straight from the CIA's playbook.

According to Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, small groups of hooligans, including anti-Iran MEK terrorists, set public and private buildings ablaze, along with street violence and other vandalism.

He estimated from 130,000 to 200,000 were involved in what happened last month, targets pre-selected, including banks, government and religious sites, gas stations, ambulances, private and military vehicles, private motorbikes, and military bases.

Thugs involved were responsible for deaths, numerous injuries, and widespread destruction — an operation requiring considerable advance planning and direction. There was nothing spontaneous about what happened.

The vast majority of Iranians opposed what continued for days until quelled, turning out in large numbers to support their government. Hundreds were arrested, including ringleaders. 

Iran's Intelligence Ministry said CIA funded elements were involved, six individuals "arrested while attending the riots and carrying out (US) orders…(T)wo others were identified and apprehended while trying to…send information abroad before they could leave the country."

Interior Minister Fazli accused anti-Iran Western and regional media propaganda for supporting unrest.

On Wednesday, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC) commander General Hossein Salami praised the Iranian nation and people for "slapping (US) arrogance in the face" by quelling orchestrated riots, adding:

"The enemies were looking for a chance to destroy the Iranian nation and endanger Iran's existence…(T)hey were not aware that our people are the heroes of turning threats into opportunities."

"The Iranian nation proved its commitment to the Leadership and the Islamic Revolution by turning the streets into the scenes of unity against the enemies."

Commenting on days of violence and vandalism in Iran last month, the Times turned truth on its head, blaming CIA orchestrated violence on "Iran's leaders."

It lied saying US sanctions "are meant to pressure Iran into renegotiating the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and major world powers, which President Trump abandoned, calling it too weak."

Sanctions are war by other means, economic terrorism to punish the population of targeted countries. They're flagrantly illegal, what the Times and other establishment media never explain.

Separately, the Times bemoaned that sanctions and violence "have yet to achieve US goals," falsely accusing Iranian ruling authorities of "malign actions in the region" — a US, NATO, Israeli, Saudi, Turkish specialty, not how the Islamic Republic operates at home or abroad.

What the Times calls "all the news that's fit to print" consists of managed news misinformation and disinformation on issues mattering most — truth and full disclosure banned when conflicts with the official narrative.
