The NYT Propaganda Machine Never Rests

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Sworn enemy of truth-telling journalism the way it should be, the Times is a daily proliferator of managed news misinformation and disinformation rubbish on major issues mattering most, especially geopolitical ones.

It provides press agent services for the imperial state, Wall Street, and other corporate predators — operating as a weapon of mass deception.

Russia is a favorite target, repeatedly slamming the country and Vladimir Putin with a blitzkrieg of Big Lies.

Among major powers, Russia is the world's leading proponent of peace, stability, and mutual cooperation among all nations.

Its agenda is polar opposite endless US war of aggression for dominion over planet earth, its resources, and populations — policies the Times wholeheartedly endorses.

In its latest anti-Russia broadside, the Times falsely accused the Kremlin of using "snipers, missiles and warplanes, try(ing) to tilt the Libyan war" — a bald-faced Big Lie.

Fact: Throughout Obama regime-led aggression on Libya in 2011, the self-styled newspaper of record cheerled mass slaughter, destruction, and elimination of Africa's most developed nation under Muammar Gaddafi.

On October 16, 2016, war goddess, Wall Street/Times favorite Hillary celebrated Gaddafi's sodomized death, infamously roaring: "We came. We saw. He died."

Gaddafi used Libya's oil wealth to provide social services to all its people, extraordinary ones Americans and others in the West can't imagine.

Hillary was part of the Obama regime's war machine that raped and destroyed the country, immiserating its people.

Gaddafi was targeted for his sovereign independence, his unwillingness to subordinating the interests of the nation and people to US diktats — making him a marked man for elimination.

Obama regime aggression transformed Libya into a cauldron of endless violence, chaos and human misery – what happens virtually wherever Pentagon forces show up, ignored by the Times and other establishment media, supporting what demands denunciation.

Libya was terror-bombed and attacked on the ground to destroy its sovereignty, plunder its oil wealth, privatize the world's largest aquifer system, dollarize the country, exploit its people, and establish pro-Western puppet rule.

Gaddafi was toppled and murdered for supporting pan-Africanism, a United States of Africa free from imperial dominance, and Libyans sharing in the country's oil wealth, notions anathema to the US and its imperial partners.

Libya today is a dystopian failed state. Dozens of rival factions vie for control, including US-supported ISIS, al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups.

Two main ones are the UN-backed Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) and the Tobruk-based Libyan National Army (LNA), led by CIA asset Khalifa Haftar.

The US, Britain, France, other NATO nations, Israel, the Saudis, UAE, and Egypt are involved in the country's current conflict and chaos.

Ignored by the Times, it falsely blames Russia for endless war it has nothing to do with.

The broadsheet falsely accused Moscow of sending "fighters" to Libya to "reassert its influence across the Middle East and Africa" — a bald-faced Big Lie, how the US and its imperial allies operate, not Russia.

The Times: Moscow is using "the same playbook that made (it) a kingmaker in the Syrian civil war."

Fact: Russia's "playbook" prioritizes restoration of peace and stability in conflict theaters through diplomacy.

Fact: No "civil war" exists in Syria — devastated by US aggression, including use of ISIS and other jihadists as imperial foot soldiers.

Fact: The Times perpetuates the myth of Pentagon forces involved in combatting ISIS — the US created and supported scourge.

Fact: When Russian officials meet with warring elements abroad or in Moscow, it's all about seeking diplomatic conflict resolution — polar opposite how the US and its imperial partners operate.

False Times claims about Russian mercenaries in Libya mirror fabricated accusations of "Russian aggression" in Ukraine with "little green men" that didn't exist earlier and don't now.

In the Middle East and elsewhere, Moscow willingly offers to help resolve conflicts diplomatically.

Most often they're ones launched and sustained by US aggression — directly and/or by using jihadist proxies.

Russia's agenda is polar opposite the scourge of US imperialism, an unparalleled global menace — supported by the self-styled newspaper of record.

A Final Comment

Russia debunked the spurious Times report discussed above, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov saying the following:

"I categorically refute speculations of this kind. We are acting in the interest of the Libyan settlement."

"We are supporting the existing effort, including through the United Nations. We maintain a dialogue with those who somehow influence the situation."

"We do not think that there is any grounds for such statements, such fiction, but this is not the first time that US media spread different speculations, wicked rumors, falsehoods targeting us."

"We have already gotten used to this, and we take it in stride. However, I have to acknowledge that recurrent hoaxes of this kind exercise a negative influence on the sentiment of the US domestic public, and the general atmosphere in the United States, unfortunately, does not promote normalization of our ties, although we strive for it."
