More NYT Reinvented History — Falsely Claiming Iraq Protests Express Anti-Iran Anger

The self-styled newspaper of record in its own mind finds new ways to shame itself.

Its daily editions give yellow journalism a bad name, truth and full disclosure on major issues banished from its reports — managed news misinformation and disinformation exclusively featured.

On Tuesday, the Times falsely claimed ongoing protests in Iraq are over Iranian "heavy-handed interventions in regional affairs" that don't exist.

They're all about legitimate grievances, notably rampant corruption, high unemployment, impoverishment affecting millions, the nation's youths notably harmed, and lack of essential to life public services.

All of the above followed Bush/Cheney's 2003 aggression, raping and destroying the country, transforming it into a US vassal state under puppet rule, serving Western and internal special interests, at the expense of peace, equity and social justice.

Oil-rich Iraq has the world's fifth largest reserves. Under Saddam Hussein, Iraqis got free healthcare, education and other social benefits — what no longer exists today under US puppet rule. 

Iraqi ruling authorities serve Western and internal privileged interests, as well as themselves exclusively, subjecting ordinary people to neoliberal harshness.

Therein lies the root cause of what's going on. Extreme violence causing thousands of casualties, along with setting dozens of public and private buildings ablaze, storming others, raises red flags — dirty hands likely behind it.

In early September, thuggish elements, likely operating as US proxies, stormed the Iranian consulate in Basra, Iraq, setting it ablaze.

On Sunday, likeminded street thugs attacked the Iranian consulate in the Shia holy city of Karbala.

Iraq's Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks, on Monday saying Baghdad authorities "reaffirm the inviolability of diplomatic missions guaranteed by the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the need not to endanger their security."

Thuggish elements spray-painted anti-Iran remarks on the consulate's walls. Others threw stones and set tires ablaze outside the compound.

On Sunday, head of Iraq's Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, part of the country's Popular Mobilization Units, Qais Khazali accused Israel, the Saudis, and UAE of stoking violence in the country — perhaps so along with US dirty hands.

On Monday, the Netanyahu regime falsely blamed Iran's IRGC and its Quds force for "murdering demonstrators in Iraq" — an Israeli Mossad, CIA specialty, not how Tehran operates anywhere.

The Times: "(P)rotests (in Iraq and Lebanon are) part of a developing revolt against efforts by Shiite-dominated Iran to project its power throughout the Middle East."

Fact: Operating as a US imperial mouthpiece, Times disinformation consistently blames victims of US aggression, economic terrorism, and other hostile actions for high crimes committed against them.

Fact: Protests in Iraq and Lebanon have common roots, seeking social justice over force-fed neoliberal harshness, along with an end to deep-seated corruption. 

They're unrelated to Iran. The Times falsely claimed otherwise, serving imperial interests over the sovereign rights of nations and their people.

A century ago, Iraqis revolted against imperial Britain. Now it's against deep-seated corruption by US-installed puppet authorities, social injustice, and US/Israeli influence on how the country is run.

Long-suffering Iraqis want their country back. They want US control of their ruling authorities ended, the nation's wealth serving everyone equitably, not handed to Big Oil, other Western interests, and internal privileged ones exclusively.

Protests since early October killing over 250, injuring many thousands, bear disturbing similarity to the US-orchestrated late 2013/early 2014 color revolution in Ukraine.

Snipers trained abroad by the US were involved in mass shootings, police and protesters shot.

Is what's going on in Iraq similar to US-orchestrated Hong Kong protests and the Obama regime's coup in Ukraine?

Times disinformation about anti-Iran anger conceals what likely is really going on.

Peace and stability defeat Washington's imperial objectives. Endless wars, violence, and chaos serve them.

US dirty hands are likely all over Iraq street protests, wanting control of the country and its resources maintained, along with continued occupation of parts of the country on military bases used as platforms for endless regional wars.

What the Times suppresses in its reports is most important for followers of geopolitical issues to know.
