NYT Reinvented Syrian History

The newspaper of shame, not record, reinvented facts on the ground throughout years of US aggression in Syria.

Its disinformation and fake news, along with similar rubbish from other establishment media, have been, and continue to be, some of the most appalling perversions of truth in modern memory.

Times fake news continued on Syria in its latest edition, lots more ahead for sure on the country and other major issues.

The Times: "Russia, Turkey and Bashar al-Assad carved up northern Syria as the Americans retreated."

"In just a few weeks, the American withdrawal from northern Syria dramatically reordered power in the country after eight years of civil war."

Fact: Syria belongs to Syrians. Occupation by foreign occupiers is flagrantly illegal unless invited to be in the country by Damascus — true for Russian forces, Hezbollah fighters, and Iranian military advisors, false for the US, its NATO allies, and Turkey, operating illegally.

Fact: The Trump and Turkish regimes agreed to carve up Syria, flagrantly violating international law.

Fact: The leadership of a nation-state can't carve up what it has exclusive sovereign right over.

Fact: The so-called US withdrawal from northern Syria was and remains a mirage. Heavily armed hundreds, maybe thousands, of Pentagon troops occupy northern and southern parts of the country illegally.

Fact: There's nothing remotely "civil" about over eight years of US aggression in Syria, no near-term resolution in prospect because both right wings of the US war party reject restoration of peace and stability to the country.

The Times: "(T)hree weeks ago: American-backed Kurds controlled the northeast, while the Syrian government controlled most of the rest."

Fact: Kurdish YPG fighters infested their undemocratic "Syrian Democratic Forces" with cutthroat killer jihadists.

Fact: The Kurdish leadership betrayed their country by allying with US aggression.

Fact: The Trump regime betrayed the Kurds for higher priorities, how the US operates time and again, using nations, groups and individuals, then abandoning them when no longer serving its interests.

The Times: Turkey "sees…Kurdish…forces (in Syria) as terrorists."

Fact: Kurds in northern Syria and Iraq threaten no one, except in self-defense if attacked, what Turkey has done repeatedly.

The Times: "Kurdish-led forces were fighting alongside the United States against ISIS…American troops were positioned across bases and outposts in northern Syria."

Fact: Anti-government Kurdish fighters allied with Arab terrorists include or support ISIS — all jihadists in Syria used by the Pentagon and CIA as imperial proxy troops.

Fact: The Times ignored illegal US occupation of northern and southern Syrian territory, the same true about its unlawful involvement in numerous other countries, notably its theaters of war and by other means.

The Times: "Trump…allow(ed) Turkey to move in(to) (northern Syria…changing years of American policy."

Fact: Naked aggression reflects "years of American policy" in Syria and elsewhere, smashing nations, aiming to control and plunder their resources — an agenda the Times supports.

Fact: Turkish aggression in northern Syria is all about President Erdogan's revanchist aims. It's unrelated to Ankara's security or concern for Syrian refugees, millions of displaced people Turkey doesn't give a hoot about.

The Times: "Abandoned by the United States, the Kurds…made a deal with an American enemy — the Syrian government. The partnership opened the door for President Bashar al-Assad to try to regain control of the whole country."

Fact: The Times opposes Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity. It supports US aggression in all its war theaters, operating as a Pentagon press agent, making it complicit in the highest of high crimes.

Fact: US betrayal of Kurds was certain throughout the war, its timing alone unknown until unfolded. 

Their leadership failed to support the rule of law and Syrian sovereignty by allying with US aggression. They made their bed and now must sleep in it.

The Times: The US/Ankara deal "allowed Russia, which backs Mr. al-Assad, to help contain the Turkish incursion into Syria and enter areas that were under American protection just days before."

Fact: Unlike US/Turkish revanchist aims, Russia has none. Its involvement in Syria at the request of Damascus is all about supporting and protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity — polar opposite US imperial objectives supported by the Times.

The Times: "Russia and Turkey divided up northern Syria: Turkey got the area it had captured and a promise that the Kurds would push back 20 miles. Russia and Mr. al-Assad got the rest. It's unclear what will happen with the land the Kurds still control."

Fact: The US and Turkey illegally agreed on carving up Syrian territory, not Russia. The only Kurdish option is what they should have chosen all along —supporting Damascus against US/NATO/Turkish aggression.

The Times: "The changing landscape also threw a wrench into US plans targeting the ISIS leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The US had to speed up the raid, and the Kurds, feeling betrayed, suspended their crucial security cooperation. Al-Baghdadi was killed despite the obstacles."

Fact: Trump's Sunday announcement about eliminating alleged ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was dubious at best.

Fact: No independently confirmed DNA evidence or other corroboration backs what he claimed.

Fact: Obama did NOT kill Osama. The body of whoever was killed was disposed of, never presented for proof. The same goes for Baghdadi, — no body with DNA confirmation, no corroboration of his death.

Fact: He was likely eliminated by a Russian aerial operation in May 2017. Dead men don't die twice. Remarks by Trump Sunday and the Times in its latest edition about Baghdadi's death lack credibility.

The Times: "Four American adversaries gained under Syria's new geography. Mr. al-Assad's control expanded. Iran, a long-time Syrian ally, could gain a long supply route to its proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon."

"ISIS has an opening to regroup amid the chaos. And Russia cemented its status as the main foreign power in Syria."

US and allied operations in Syria flagrantly breach international law, what the Times and other establishment media never explain.

Syria, Iran, Hezbollah and Russia support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations. They oppose aggression by the US and its imperial allies.

They support Syria's liberation from all hostile foreign forces. They're involved in combatting the scourge of terrorism created and supported by the US — notably ISIS, al-Qaeda, and its al-Nusra offshoot.

The Times and other establishment media back US aggression and its imperial aims instead of forthrightly denouncing them.

Instead of reporting accurately on what's happening in Syria, other US war theaters, and economic terrorism against Iran, Venezuela, and other nations, the Times and other establishment media cheerlead all of the above.
