US Hardliners Want Iran Denied Its Legitimate Nuclear Rights

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

The vast majority of Republicans, undemocratic Dems, and Pentagon commanders are militantly hostile toward all sovereign independent countries the US doesn't control.

Sanctions are their main US weapon of choice in waging war on these countries by other means. Stiff ones are likely coming on China because of its unwillingness to subordinate its sovereign rights to US interests in trade talks.

The so-called July 2017 Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) was passed with only five congressional members opposing the hostile measure.

It mandates unilateral sanctions on Russia, Iran, and North Korea. It opposes Tehran's legitimate ballistic missile program, along with maintaining the myth that it seeks nuclear weapons despite no evidence whatever suggesting it, just the opposite. Its program has no military component and doesn't seek one.

Trump regime hardliners and likeminded Dems want Iran denied its lawful rights permitted under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Its Article IV states: "Nothing in this Treaty shall be interpreted as affecting the inalienable right of all the Parties to the Treaty to develop research, production and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes without discrimination and in conformity with Articles I and II of this Treaty."

NPT considers uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes the right of all nations, no limit placed on it as long as non-military development alone is pursued.

Dozens of nations have legitimate nuclear programs for power generation and research, the US-led West targeting nonbelligerent Iran alone, wanting its legal NPT rights compromised.

In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, Iranophobes Senator Lindsey Graham and and retired general Jack Keane said "Iran's nuclear program is again on the march" — code language for pursuing nuclear weapons, the Big Lie that won't die, ignoring nuclear armed and dangerous apartheid Israel.

They both lied claiming under the JCPOA, "the Iranians could ramp up quickly and easily from the enrichment levels necessary for peaceful nuclear power to levels needed to make a bomb."

Cold hard reality ignored by US, other Western, and Israeli hardliners is Iran fully complies with its nuclear obligations. Not a shred of evidence suggests it intends diverging from them.

The US and Israel are nuclear outlaws. Both countries breached the NPT, a treaty the Jewish state refuses to sign, maintaining secrecy about its illegal nuke program.

The West refuses to hold Israel accountable for its illegal nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons arsenals — one of many examples of its double standard hypocrisy, along with its other breaches of international laws, norms, and standards time and again.

Graham and Keane: The JCPOA "also didn't restrict Iran's ballistic-missile program, which gives it a way to launch a nuclear bomb (sic)."

"All this, combined with an incredibly weak inspection regime (sic) and the deal's complete silence on Tehran's sponsorship of terrorism (sic), (as DJT) put it last year, a 'one-sided deal that should have never, ever been made (sic).' "

The above remarks are bald-faced Big Lies the Journal shamed itself by publishing. So was Lindsey and Keane disgracefully saying "the US has to deal with Iran's ambition to acquire a nuclear weapon (sic)."

The whole world knows Iran has no nuke ambitions. The US used these weapons earlier, most likely will again, and Israel threatened to use all weapons in its arsenal at its discretion.

Yet the world community ignores the potentially catastrophic threat these countries represent, along with the willingness of other nations to ally with their aggression.

Graham and Keane proposed what no nation should accept, wanting Iran denied its lawful right to enrich uranium, wanting its leadership to be dependent on other countries for its supply, an unacceptable situation.

The proposal is based on the Big Lie threat of Iran developing nukes — despite clear evidence  it abhors these weapons and wants them eliminated everywhere.

The real threat of their use lies in Washington, Tel Aviv, and other NATO capitals, belligerent states at war on humanity, polar opposite how Iran operates.

Hard truths about the country are suppressed by establishment media, maintaining the myth about a threat the country doesn't pose.

Graham and Keane are unapologetic hardline militarists and serial liars. They lied saying "the Iranians don't want a peaceful nuclear program."

They lied claiming "they have misled inspectors, lied to international observers and pressed ahead with their nuclear and missile-delivery programs."

They lied accusing Iran of "support(ing) terrorism and…destabiliz(ing) its regional neighbors."

Things Iran is falsely accused of is what US-led NATO and Israel feature, notably their high crimes against peace.
