The Big Lie About Europe Scrambling to Save the JCPOA

Political rhetoric aims to deceive, not inform or truthfully explain where officials stand on issues. 

Follow their actions alone. Ignore their lofty-sounding remarks, proven meaningless time and again — especially from criminal Western and Israeli politicians.

According to Britain, France, Germany, and the EU, along with establishment reporting on where they stand on the JCPOA nuclear deal with Iran, they're "scrambling" to save it. Cold hard reality shows otherwise.

On Monday, the NYT claimed European foreign ministers are committed to saving the deal. Their actions clearly indicate otherwise by refusing to observe its provisions.

Breaching them without resolve to come into compliance drove a stake into the heart of the deal, dooming it without a clear change of heart, no evidence showing it's coming, just the opposite.

Trump regime hardliners and Israel's Netanyahu turned truth on its head, falsely claiming Iran's increased uranium enrichment amount and purity level "signal(ed) the country's intent to move toward the capacity to make an atomic bomb," according to the Times.

No such intent exists. Netanyahu is a fascist thug, an embarrassment to what responsible leadership is all about.

Israel under his boot and likeminded extremists resembles Arundhati Roy's earlier description of India, calling the country under its repressive leadership a "limbless, headless, soulless torso left bleeding under the butcher's clever with a flag driven deep into her mutilated heart."

The description applies in steroids to the US, the world's leading rule of law breacher/human rights violator on a global scale.

Trump embarrasses himself time and again with his shameful public remarks and tweets.

On Monday, Netanyahu shamefully said EU relations with Iran "reminds (him) of European appeasement of the 1930s" — falsely equating nonbelligerent Iran to Nazi Germany, the comparison applicable to apartheid Israel, the US, and NATO, not the Islamic Republic.

Trump regime hardliners and Netanyahu want international/nuclear-related sanctions reimposed on Iran.

They're clearly not forthcoming, Sino/Russian Security Council veto power to prevent them — what never should have been imposed on Iran earlier.

On Monday, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini falsely said the JCPOA "avoided Iran developing a nuclear weapon." 

No evidence suggests its ruling authorities ever sought them, just the opposite, wanting them eliminated in the Middle East and elsewhere.

Western officials consistently ignore discussing nuclear armed and dangerous Israel, a nation with intent to use any or all its weapons at its discretion.

Iran is the region's leading proponent of peace and stability. Yet it's falsely vilified otherwise.

UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt is part of the problem, UK ruling authorities joined at the hip with Washington's war machine.

"Iran is still a good year away from developing a nuclear bomb," he shamefully roared, adding: "There is still some closing, but small window to keep the deal alive."

Like the US and France, Britain is nuclear armed and dangerous. Iran abhors these weapons. Belligerent Western nations and Israel with menacing arsenals refuse to eliminate them to save humanity from potential immolation one day.

Since Trump's unlawful JCPOA pullout in May 2018, Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif has gone all-out to try saving the deal.

On Monday, he expressed frustration, saying "(t)he Europeans claim they were willing to maintain the JCPOA, but we have not seen Europe yet to be ready for an investment."

Europe consistently says one thing while doing something entirely different. Its JCPOA signatories abandoned the deal by refusing to honor its provisions.

Days earlier, Tehran University Professor Seyed Mohammad Marandi commented candidly on "US aggression and European hypocrisy," explaining:

"There is no reason to expect that a declining and desperate (US) empire will conduct itself in a civilized manner. Iran is prepared for the worst," adding:

"(R)epeated threats of a nuclear holocaust and genocide by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump are deeply imbedded in western civilization's centuries-old tradition of colonization, mass slaughter and moral absence."

"(S)tarvation sanctions, bullying, and military interventionism led by the US, is glossed over with mammoth globs of humanitarian jargon and moral righteousness."

For its part, Europe pretends to want the JCPOA preserved, its unacceptable actions proving otherwise, its disturbing hypocrisy self-evident.

Despite unacceptable betrayal by the West, "Iran demonstrated strategic patience (for over a year) in the face of a constant escalation in the US economic war on the Iranian people," Marandi explained — supported by Europe by its actions.

The US-led West is guilty of "economic terrorism and a war crime" against nonbelligerent Iran. The UN and most world community members failed to rally in defense of Iran against hostile Washington, Europe, and Israel.

Fearing US-led Western aggression, Iran spent decades preparing for the possibility. Marandi explained it "construct(ed) a vast network of underground military facilities alongside its southern shores from Iraq to Pakistan…"

It's for self-defense by a nation that never preemptively attacked another country, a good neighbor, not a belligerent one — its policies polar opposite how Western states and Israel operate.

Marandi believes if aggressively attacked, the IRGC "will respond…with a massive and disproportionate counterstrike targeting both the aggressor and its enablers," adding:

"All-out war would mean the obliteration of all oil and gas installations as well as all oil tankers and cargo ships on both sides of the Strait of Hormuz. Under such circumstances, the closure of the Strait would be a sideshow."

Iran seeks peace and cooperative relations with other countries. If attacked, aggressors will pay a stiff price.

Marandi: "Western establishment politicians and pundits seem to thrill at threatening to send nations back to the stone age." 

"But be sure that if there is war, this time around Iran and its allies will make sure they come along for the ride."
