Hard Reality About Trump's No-Peace/Peace Plan

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Trump's so-called "deal of the century" has nothing to do with peace, nothing to do with treating Palestinians equitably, everything to do with serving Israeli interests at the expense of their fundamental rights.

He proved it time and again since taking office by pursuing one-sided policies favoring Israel, by saying he's the best friend the Jewish state ever had, by supporting its highest of high crimes against the Palestinian people, by both countries partnering in each other's wars, by rejecting conflict resolution to wage them endlessly.

Trump's no-peace/peace plan continues the greatest hoax in modern times, along with the US global war OF terror, not on it.

The deal is so unacceptably one-sided it's rejected by Palestinians before arrival. According to what the neocon/CIA-connected Washington Post called an "exclusive" report, Pompeo panned Trump's deal of the century in an "off-the-record meeting," saying:

He delivered a reality check on a deal going nowhere "in a closed-door meeting with Jewish leaders, saying 'one might argue' that the plan is 'unexecutable' and it might not 'gain traction,' " adding:

"It may be rejected. Could be in the end, folks will say, 'It's not particularly original. It doesn't particularly work for me…'It's got two good things and nine bad things, I'm out."

From what's been leaked subject to change, there's virtually nothing positive in the scheme for Palestinians — serving Israeli interests exclusively, Palestinians getting empty promises alone.

For the past 70 years since the Nakba, they've been denied virtually all their fundamental rights. For over 50 years, they've been ruthlessly persecuted under occupation harshness.

There's nothing in Trump's plan for ending how they're ruthlessly terrorized, nothing about Palestinian self-determination the way it should be, nothing to stop the theft of their land, nothing for six million diaspora Palestinians.

According to WaPo, Pompeo's above quotes are from "an audio recording of the private meeting obtained by" the broadsheet, adding:

His "remarks are the most unvarnished comments to date from a US official about President Trump's 'deal of the century,' " going nowhere.

Rolling out the scheme is "tak(ing) longer…than I had originally thought it might — to put it lightly," he told officials from the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations last Tuesday — run by Zionist ideologues dismissive of Palestinian rights.

Pompeo acknowledged the perception of the deal's one-sidedness, saying "I get why people think this is going to be a deal that only the Israelis could love" — the reality of what the deal is all about.

Illegally moving the US embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing the city as Israel's capital, (a UN recognized international city), cutting off US aid for millions of Palestinian refugees, slashing it for its Ramallah-based government, permitting the suffocation of two million Gazans, along with supporting the Netanyahu regime's undeclared war on the Strip and all Palestinians killed any chance for initiating no-peace/peace talks.

Pompeo explained that he's fully aware of what's included in Trump's deal of the century as it now stands.

He's planning what steps to take if it "doesn't gain traction," he said, adding: "I don't want to call it failing. Call it whatever."

Days earlier, Israeli installed Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas said Trump's deal of the century and his regime's late June Orwellian labeled "Peace to Prosperity" conference in Bahrain can "go to hell."

If invited, Palestinians won't come, wanting nothing to do with a scheme they reject — one-sidedly favoring Israel, calling for Palestinian surrender to its demands.

A Final Comment

On Sunday, Trump said Pompeo's less than optimistic assessment of his deal of the century "may be right" — in response to WaPo's report discussed above, adding:

"We'll see what happens. We're doing our best to help the Middle East (sic)" — by waging endless wars of aggression and serving Israeli interests at the expense of fundamental Palestinian rights, he failed to explain.
