Serial Liar Trump: Once a Liar, Always One

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Nary a day goes by without Big Lies from the nation's liar-in-chief - via Twitter or public remarks. Most everything he says lacks credibility.

All politicians lie. It goes with the territory. Rare exceptions prove the rule. Trump exceeds the worst of his predecessors, never to be trusted - breaking virtually all positive pledges made to the American people, ordinary ones he doesn't give a damn about, treating them with contempt.

His notion of making America great again is all about serving wealth, power, and privileged interests exclusively, waging wars of aggression for Wall Street and the nation's military, industrial, security complex, along with staging color revolutions and coup plots to replace legitimate governments with US-controlled puppet regimes.

Trump did what who could have imagined possible pre-inauguration. He matched Star Trek, going beyond where earlier US regimes went before.

He abandoned rule of law principles, morality, and ethics altogether, escalating war on humanity at home and abroad, risking nuclear war with Russia, China, and/or Iran, endangering life on earth.

He and hardliners infesting his regime risk destroying planet earth to own it, the human cost of no consequence, ordinary people to be exploited to benefit privileged ones.

His remarks make painful listening and reading. Weeks earlier, he turned truth on its head claiming "(w)e're knocking the hell out of ISIS…We have defeated ISIS in Syria."

Earlier he boasted that he "know(s) more about #ISIS than generals do…" He's a geopolitical know-nothing, fed rubbish by his handlers and Fox News, his favorite TV channel, perhaps unaware that the US created and supports ISIS, al-Qaeda, and other terrorist groups, using them as imperial foot soldiers.

Last week, he lied claiming ISIS is entirely eliminated in Syria. "Now it's 100% we just took over, 100%," he roared, adding: "The area, the land, we just have 100%. We did that in a much shorter period of time than it was supposed to be."

ISIS and other US-supported terrorist groups infest Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya and elsewhere, sent where the Pentagon and CIA want them deployed.

Major media suppress what's vital to report, pretending the US is combatting the scourge of ISIS (and likeminded jihadists) it supports.

On Sunday, Trump ludicrously blamed Michael Cohen's congressional testimony last week for failed summit talks with North Korea's Kim Jong-Un, tweeting:

"For the Democrats to interview in open hearings a convicted liar & fraudster, at the same time as the very important nuclear summit with North Korea, is perhaps a new low in American politics and may have contributed to the 'walk.' Never done when a president is overseas. Shame!"

His regime is "a new low in American politics." He and hardliners infesting it bear full responsibility for the summit's failure and a whole lot more at home and abroad, policies causing enormous harm to countless millions worldwide.

In Hanoi, they made unacceptable demands in return for hollow promises, failing to reciprocate in kind to good faith DPRK gestures - including cessation of nuclear and ballistic missile tests, as well as dismantlement of its nuclear production facilities at Yongbyon, its main site.

Trump refused to offer even a partial lifting of illegal US sanctions, ones causing economic harm to the country and its people.

On February 28, PolitiFact published a sampling of Trump lies. Below is another one of his whoppers.

Trump: "We are not even into February and the cost of illegal immigration so far this year is $18,959,495,168. Cost Friday was $603,331,392. There are at least 25,772,342 illegal aliens, not the 11,000,000 that have been reported for years, in our country."

Fact: No human being is "illegal." Undocumented aliens contribute greatly to the US economy. Employed ones pay taxes like everyone else.

According to the Immigration Forum, documented and undocumented "immigrants paid an estimated $328 billion in state, local, and federal taxes" in 2014.

Undocumented aliens are ineligible for most federal benefits, including healthcare, food stamps, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and others.

They may be eligible for emergency Medicaid and nutrition programs under the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

Most estimates of undocumented aliens in America put the number at around 11 million. Trump falsely "25.7 million."

PolitiFact's scorecard on 656 Trump remarks said the following:

True - 4%

Mostly True - 11%

Half True - 14%

Mostly False - 21%

False - 34%

Pants on Fire - 14%

In other words, 96% of Trump's remarks fail to be entirely truthful - 75% of them mostly or totally false.

Conclusion: The vast majority of Trump's public remarks fail to pass the truth-telling smell test. Believe nothing he says, notably on vital issues.

Separately, the neocon/CIA house organ Washington Post claimed it counted 492 false or misleading claims by Trump in his first 100 days in office.

It sounds a bit extreme, but given his penchant for serial lying, perhaps it's true.
