US and Israel Partner in Each Other's Wars

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

The special relationship began before establishment of the Jewish state.

In March 1948, Harry Truman met secretly with Chaim Weizmann (Israel's first president). He pledged support for the future Jewish state.

Minutes after midnight on May 15, 1948, America was the first nation to extend recognition. A special relationship began - at the expense of regional peace and stability, along with abandoning any pretext of support for Palestinian rights.

The bilateral relationship has grown politically, economically, financially, and militarily, an alliance involved in endless regional conflicts and turmoil, no end of what's going on in prospect, things likely to worsen in the new year and beyond, not improve.

Nuclear armed and dangerous, both countries threaten world peace, along with their NATO and regional partners.

Republicans and undemocratic Dems hand Israel $3.8 billion annually ($10.4 million daily of US taxpayer dollars), countless more on request.

It's mostly for Israel's killing machine, along with the latest weapons, technology, intelligence, and much more at a time the only enemies both countries face are invented ones.

US major media ignore horrendous waste, fraud, and misuse of discretionary spending - largely for militarism and warmaking, corporate handouts, and military aid to aggressor states like Israel, Egypt, Colombia, and others.

Nothing is spent for peacemaking, an abhorrent notion in Washington, the nation permanently at war, new targeted countries to be attacked ahead, Iran a prime target, maybe in the new year.

John Bolton and Mike Pompeo are in cahoots with Netanyahu for regime change in Iran - by whatever it takes to achieve their objective, war plans drawn, ready to be implemented if ordered, an ominous possibility with hardliners running Trump's geopolitical agenda, wanting sovereign Iranian independence eliminated, most congressional members going along.

Before becoming Trump regime national security advisor, Bolton called for bombing Iran, saying its government "will not negotiate away its (nonexistent) nuclear (weapons) program," adding:

"Nor will sanctions block its building a broad and deep weapons infrastructure. The inconvenient truth is that only military action…can accomplish what is required."

In his first address as secretary of state, Pompeo threatened Iran, saying if its government fails to comply with (unacceptable) US demands, "the strongest sanctions in history" and other toughness will be imposed on the country.

He lied claiming the Islamic

Republic has a clandestine nuclear weapons program. He lied saying its leadership "entered into the JCPOA in bad faith."

He lied claiming its legal ballistic and cruise missile capabilities "could deliver nuclear warheads." He lied saying Tehran "spen(ds) its resources fueling proxy wars across the Middle East," adding:

"Iran perpetuates a conflict that has displaced more than 6 million Syrians" internally and millions more "outside its borders" - a bald-faced lie, blaming the Islamic Republic for US aggression.

US, NATO, and Israeli officials consistently blame others for criminal actions and other wrongdoing they commit.

Last May, Pompeo delivered an ultimatum on Iran, issuing 12 unacceptable demands no responsible ruling authorities anywhere would accept.

They included unqualified access to all sites in the country for inspections, ending support for Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad, falsely designated terrorist groups at Israel's behest, halting its legitimate ballistic missile program, and withdrawing its military advisors from Syria, legally involved in aiding Damascus combat US-supported terrorists.

Iran is the region's leading supporter of peace and stability. The US, NATO, Israel, the Saudis, and other despotic Arab states are regional warmakers.

Washington is allied with Israel for regime change in Syria. In response to the IDF's latest airstrikes on targets in the country from Lebanese airspace, naked aggression by any standard, using civilian passenger planes for cover, endangering them, State Department deputy spokesman Robert Palladino supported the lawless action, turning truth on its head, saying:

"The United States fully supports Israel's right to defend itself (sic) against Iranian regional actions that endanger Israeli national security and the safety of the Israeli people (sic)."

"Iranian support of and supply to terrorist groups in Syria and across the region that have the clear intent and capability to strike Israel (sic) are unacceptable."

"The United States fully supports Israel's right (sic)" - to aggressively attack Syria, other regional states, and defenseless Palestinians, along with stealing their land, enforcing apartheid ruthlessness, and denying them fundamental rights affirmed under international law - the US operating the same way worldwide.

During the holiday season and throughout the year, the US (under both right wings of duopoly rule), NATO, Israel alliance represents the greatest threat to world peace and humanity's survival.

Prospects for 2019 and beyond are grim, the risk of unthinkable nuclear war ominously real.
