Russian Foreign Ministry on Syria, Gaza, and US Treaty Violations

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (MZ below) explained that (US-supported) al-Nusra and allied jihadists "continue their insolent attempts to torpedo the implementation of the Russian-Turkish memorandum that was signed in Sochi on September 17," adding: 

"Radical militants continue to fire upon the positions of Syrian government forces in the south of the Idlib province and also in the northern and western districts of Hama."

They terrorize residential areas of Idlib, Aleppo, and other areas, killing or wounding civilians in harm's way, abducting others as hostages, holding them as human shields.

"The situation on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River" is no different, said MZ - US-supported ISIS terrorists, attacking Kurdish fighters, killing and wounding scores, along with abducting and massacring civilians.

The Trump regime's pledge to rebuild Raqqa was breached, the city US forces raped and destroyed on the phony pretext of combating ISIS Washington supports.

Countless numbers of rotting corpses remain buried under rubble. Virtually everything needed to sustain life and welfare is unavailable in the city and surrounding areas - destroyed by US imperial ruthlessness.

MZ cited US war secretary James Mattis' remarks days earlier, saying Assad must go, affirming longstanding US aims for regime change, endless war likely to continue in Washington's pursuit of its failed objective.

His remarks made clear his disdain toward legitimate Syrian elections. Claiming they have no credibility is a bald-faced lie.

MZ slammed him saying "Americans are masters at putting into doubt the results of legitimate elections."

Unanimously adopted Security Council Resolution 2254 included how Syrian elections should be conducted, its people alone deciding who'll lead and govern them, free from foreign interference - the process monitored by international independent observers, assuring high standards of transparency and accountability.

MZ discussed deplorable conditions in blockaded Gaza - without explaining that Israeli repression bears full responsibility for increasing humanitarian crisis conditions - why Great March of Return protests have been held since March 30.

They're all about ending illegal blockade and occupation harshness, along with an end to Israeli naked aggression, intermittent terror-bombing, and cross-border incursions.

MZ incorrectly claimed rockets fired from Gaza on October 26 at Israel "damage(d) infrastructure." The only damage caused then and earlier was and continues to be in Gaza from Israeli aggression - not in Israel throughout the period since March 30.

MZ: "Moscow is concerned about these developments, when ill-judged and hurried decisions lead to an increased risk of a large-scale armed confrontation in the Gaza Strip, which can result in new casualties among civilians on both sides and a deteriorating humanitarian situation on the Palestinian territory."

Concern isn't good enough, strong condemnation of the Netanyahu regime needed, including punitive Kremlin actions - most important, no longer tolerating its terror-bombing of Gaza and Syrian sites.

Downing a few of its aircraft would drive home the message in the only language Israel understands. Diplomacy with the Jewish state is a waste of time. The same goes for Washington and NATO.

MZ added "we urge both Israel and Palestine to exercise restraint and take urgent measures to prevent another armed confrontation with unpredictable and tragic consequences."

"(I)t is necessary to restart a peace process using a two-state formula of the Palestine-Israel settlement based on the decisions of the UN Security Council and the General Assembly, as well as the Arab Peace Initiative."

Fact: Calling on both sides "to exercise restraint" pretends they're equally matched. Most important, it holds terrorized Gazans responsible for what Israel bears full blame.

Fact: Along with the phony US global war on terror, the Israeli/Palestinian peace process is the greatest hoax in modern times.

Fact: Conflict resolution is unattainable because Washington and Israel reject it - along with opposing Palestinian self-determination, a notion they abhor and won't permit.

MZ explained Washington's longstanding record of breaching international treaties - Trump's JCPOA and INF pullouts the latest examples of why the US can never be trusted under Republicans and undemocratic Dems.

"The United States and the Western political circles, the self-styled architects of the 'new world order,' constantly violate or drag their feet on the signing of fundamental international agreements," said MZ.

Washington consistently breaches international treaties and other agreements, including the Geneva Conventions and UN Charter - what rogue state governance is all about.

Its disdain for rule of law principles and endless wars on humanity at home and abroad need no elaboration.
