Israeli Law to Deny Palestinian High Court Petitions
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)
On the phony pretext of seeking to reduce the High Court of Justice's caseload, extremist Knesset members will vote this week on a repressive bill to limit the right of Palestinians to challenge illegal settlement construction on stolen land.
Limit means deny. The Netanyahu regime wants nothing interfering with its theft of Palestinian land, along with dispossessing its rightful owners.
The Knesset's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee approved the Netanyahu regime's bill for second and third readings - wanting Palestinian High Court petitions diverted to lower level district courts.
It also transfers Higher Planning Council for Judea and Samaria rulings to lower courts, along with cases involving entry and exit visas, freedom of information and restraining orders.
Voting against it, MK Karin Elharar called the bill "the law of annexation," flagrantly illegal under international law Israel repeatedly flouts with impunity.
MK Michal Rozin denounced the measure, calling it "an attempt to prevent Palestinians from demanding rights to their (own) land…(permitting its) theft."
According to the Jerusalem Post, "(t)he move is part of an attempt by right-wing politicians to prevent the demolition of illegal settler homes and to ensure that Jews living in Judea and Samaria enjoy the same access to the lower courts as those who live within sovereign Israel."
Jews in Judea and Samaria are settlers living illegally on stolen Palestinian land. No just societies would tolerate it.
It's core Israeli policy, including its longstanding border expansion aims, wanting it at the expense of neighboring Syria and Lebanon, possibly Egypt one day.
(In)justice Minister Ayelet ("little snakes) Shaked turned truth on its head claiming rights of "Judea and Samaria residents are no less important than the rights of citizens within the Green Line."
They have no right to live on stolen Palestinian land, no right to commit vandalism and other crimes against Palestinians, no right to operate lawlessly with full support from Israeli regime security forces.
Israeli Jews (including settlers) are governed by civil law, Palestinians by oppressive military laws, covering virtually all aspects of their lives, denying them fundamental rights afforded only to Jews.
Apartheid is the law of the land in Israel, Palestinians ruthlessly persecuted for not being Jewish.
