WaPo Gives UK Foreign Secretary a Platform to Lie

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Without scoundrel media support, government disinformation would fall flat.

The neocon/CIA-connected WaPo was an ideal platform for UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson to unjustifiably malign Russia to a US audience.

Most Americans are already brainwashed by daily print and electronic media propaganda on issues mattering most, notably geopolitical ones, especially anything about Russia.

Johnson's remarks entirely reflected bluster and deception, not substance. "Britain needs its allies to stand with us against Russia," he disgracefully roared, adding:

"Our experts have identified the weapon used in Salisbury on March 4 as a fourth-generation nerve agent known as Novichok, designed to play havoc with the central nervous system and inflict a lingering death."

False! According to former UK ambassador Craig Murray, Britain's military research Porton Down science and technology laboratory was "not able to identify the (alleged "Novichok") nerve agent as being of Russian manufacture."

Under heavy pressure, its officials only agreed to say the substance was "of a type developed in Russia," far short of what Theresa May's government wanted.

Johnson lied claiming otherwise! He lied saying "Russia combines a record of state-sponsored assassinations with a publicly avowed motive for trying to kill Sergei Skripal and stockpiles of Novichok agents."

No evidence suggests the Russian Federation under Vladimir Putin ordered anyone killed anywhere.

No motive exists, no Russian assassination attempt made with an alleged "Novichok" toxin or anything else.

Johnson embarrassed himself turning truth on its head, claiming the Skripal incident is "part of a pattern of reckless behavior by President Vladimir Putin," adding:

"The common thread that joins the poisonings in Salisbury with the annexation of Crimea, the cyberattacks in Ukraine, the hacking of Germany's Parliament and Russian interference in foreign elections is the Kremlin's reckless defiance of essential international rules."

"…Russia has made immense efforts to conceal the use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime in Syria."

All of the above is disgraceful rubbish, along with all else in his anti-Russia tirade, contemptible Big Lies. Screaming them drowns out truth-telling.

Johnson is more buffoon than diplomat, a shameless hate-mongering Russophobe, an exposed liar, an embarrassment to the office he holds.
