New Illegal US Sanctions on Russia

by Stephen Lendman

Illegal unilaterally imposed sanctions by one country on another is a sign of weakness, not strength - a further sign of contempt for rule of law principles.

Newly imposed US sanctions on Russian individuals and entities followed falsely accusing the Kremlin of poisoning former spy/double agent Sergey Skripal.

Russia had nothing to do with what clearly was a UK and/or US false flag targeting the country.

Sanctions relate to nonexistent "malicious" Russian cyberattacks, along with nonexistent interference in America's electoral process.

A US, UK, French, German joint statement accompanied new sanctions, disgracefully saying the following:

"The United Kingdom briefed thoroughly its allies that it was highly likely that Russia was responsible for the attack."

"We share the UK assessment that there is no plausible alternative explanation, and note that Russia's failure to address the legitimate request by the UK government further underlines its responsibility.

"We call on Russia to address all questions related to the attack in Salisbury. Russia should in particular provide full and complete disclosure of the Novichok program to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)," adding:

Use of a "military-grade nerve agent, of a type developed by Russia" was the first incident of its kind in Europe since WWII - an "assault on UK sovereignty," a clear Chemical Weapons Convention violation and breach of international law.

Omitted from the statement was failure to explain Russia had nothing to do with a US and/or UK false flag, outrageously blamed on the country.

Washington, France and Germany disgracefully allied with Britain in slandering Russia irresponsibly.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called UK-led Western accusations against Russia "insane."

Through his spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Vladimir Putin expressed grave concern about unacceptable, "destructive and provocative" UK actions.

Anti-Russia propaganda war rages, risking something much much more serious.

Sergey Lavrov called what's going on "a very nervous reaction to Russia's comeback as an equitable partner that does not impose anything on others but does not tolerate dictating or ultimatums," adding:

Hostility toward Moscow "is very painful," relating to the "categorical reluctance of the United States and its western allies to agree that the 500-year-long period of western domination in world affairs is coming to an end."

If humanity survives the ongoing madness, the future is multi-polar, US-dominated unipolarity heading for the dustbin of history.
