Israeli Police State Harshness

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Like America, Israeli democracy is pure fantasy, illusory, not real.

Police state viciousness defines its policies, largely against Palestinians and its own Arab citizens - at times, Jews not escaping its harshness when challenging the system.

Ziofascists and religious extremists run things. The country is unfit and unsafe to live in.

For Palestinians, it's hellish under repressive Israeli occupation, abusing them the way Hitler savaged Jews.

Western governments and media scoundrels ignore its ruthlessness, blaming Palestinians for crimes committed against them - including 16-year-old Ahed Tamimi.

They turned truth about her activism against Israeli ruthlessness on its head, instead of praising her redoubtable courage, and denouncing her lawless arrest and detention.

On January 15, the Addameer prisoner support group explained around 7,000 Palestinians were arrested and detained last year - for the crime of being Arab in an apartheid Jewish state.

Detainees include 1,467 children, 156 women, 14 legislators and 25 journalists - political prisoners, not criminals, incarcerated for wanting to live free on their own land, in their own country, occupation harshness and other Israeli high crimes ended, responsible parties held accountable, the world community supporting a beleaguered people.

Most arrests last year occurred in December, Addameer explained, over 900, around half from East Jerusalem.

"…Israeli occupation forces implemented a harsh arrest and harassment campaign against Palestinian after Trump's declaration on Jerusalem," Addameer explained, adding:

"Israeli occupation forces faced Palestinian protesting the declaration with an intense collective punishment policy" - flagrantly violating international law.

Israeli high crimes against Palestinians continue daily, including arrests, abductions, detentions, torture and much more, young children and women treated as brutally as men.

Palestine is occupied by combat troops, police and other security forces, its people persecuted ruthlessly, their fundamental rights denied, their lives and welfare threatened by a barbarous occupier.

Most Palestinian detainees earlier "experienced arrest, detention, conditional release, or house arrest," Addameer explained.

Following Trump's Jerusalem declaration, Israeli forces brutalized, arrested and detained thousands of Palestinians, numbers increasing daily, along with lethally shooting 16 nonviolent protesters - live fire against defenseless civilians approved regime policy.

According to the Palestine Red Crescent Society, 408 Palestinians were shot with live fire from December 7 - 31.

So-called investigations into incidents when launched are routinely whitewashed. Israeli forces kill, injure and brutalize Palestinians with impunity.

Rare exceptions prove the rule. Palestinians are ruthlessly treated for being unwanted on land Israel wants for exclusive Jewish development and use.

The Palestinian foreign affairs ministry routinely condemns Israeli harshness, yet does nothing about it - the PA serving as Israel's enforcer instead of responsibly challenging its pure evil.
