Are Saudis and Israel Colluding for War on Iran and Lebanon?

by Stephen Lendman

Is Washington involved, comprising a hugely dangerous axis of evil?

Endless Middle East wars rage. Attacking Iran and Lebanon would be high-risk for nations involved, potentially catastrophic for the region.

Last Saturday's resignation of Lebanese PM Saad Hariri, along with Saudi crown prince Muhammed bin Salman's consolidating power by purging potential rivals, may have been opening volleys of greater regional violence and destabilization.

Nothing is ever simple in the hugely volatile Middle East - gravely harmed by US and Israeli imperial aims, along with sinister Saudi influence, an alliance responsible for regional violence and chaos.

On Tuesday, Israel's Channel 10 published a leaked classified diplomatic cable sent sent to its ambassadors worldwide. According to Zero Hedge, it revealed the following:

"On Sunday, just after Lebanese PM Hariri's shocking resignation, Israel sent a cable to all of its embassies with the request that its diplomats do everything possible to ramp up diplomatic pressure against Hezbollah and Iran.""

The cable urged support for Saudi Arabia's war against Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen."

"The cable stressed that Iran was engaged in 'regional subversion.'

Israeli diplomats were urged to appeal to the 'highest officials' within their host countries to attempt to expel Hezbollah from Lebanese government and politics.' "

Note: Accusations of Iran supplying Yemeni Houthis with weapons and other material support are bald-faced lies. Lawless US/Saudi land, sea air blockade prevents most everything entering the country, including vital essentials to life.

Channel 10 reporter Barak Ravid obtained the classified cable. He reported the following online, saying:

"I published on channel 10 a cable sent to Israeli diplomats asking to lobby for Saudis/Hariri and against Hezbollah."

"The cable sent from the MFA in Jerusalem (Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to all Israeli embassies toes the Saudi line regarding the Hariri resignation."

"The Israeli diplomats were instructed to demarch their host governments over the domestic political situation in Lebanon - a very rare move

"The cable said: 'You need to stress that the Hariri resignation shows how dangerous Iran and Hezbollah are for Lebanon's security.' "

" 'Hariri's resignation proves wrong the argument that Hezbollah participation in the government stabilizes Lebanon.' "

"The cable instructed Israeli diplomats to support Saudi Arabia over its war with the Houthis in Yemen. The cable also stressed: 'The missile launch by the Houthis towards Riyadh calls for applying more pressure on Iran & Hezbollah.' "

Riyadh accused Iran and Lebanon of declaring war on the kingdom. Tehran responded saying the Saudis are "engaged in wars of aggression, regional bullying, destabilizing behavior and risky provocations. It blames Iran."

Hezbollah accused Riyadh of forcing Hariri's resignation, a demand he couldn't refuse, publicly reading a Saudi-drafted statement under extreme duress.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said Hariri's resignation was a "Saudi decision dictated to prime minister Saad al-Hariri and forced on him" - part of a sinister plot to stoke further regional violence and turmoil.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif responded sharply to Riyadh's hostile accusations, saying:

"Visits to the belligerent (Saudi kingdom) have proved hazardous to regional health. Trump's visit led to Bahrain repression followed by the Qatar debacle."

"Visits by (Trump son-in-law Jared) Kushner & Lebanese PM led to Hariri's bizarre resignation while abroad. Of course, Iran is accused of interference."

Saudi Arabia "bombs Yemen to smithereens, killing thousands of innocents including babies, spreads cholera and famine, but of course blames Iran."

The kingdom "is engaged in wars of aggression, regional bullying, destabilizing behavior and risky provocations. It blames Iran for the consequences."

Washington, Israel and Riyadh support endless regional aggression. Are Iran and Lebanon their next targets?
