Mossad Assassins at Work

Throughout its history, Israel's Mossad covertly assassinated Palestinians and others abroad, operating like a global Mafia hit squad - on the phony pretext of defending national security.

Former IDF chief of staff General Dan Haluts once said "(t)argeted killing is the most important method in the fight against 'terrorism,' " - meaning anyone considered an enemy of the state, international and Israeli law ignored.

Premeditated murder is indefensible under all circumstances.

Article 23b of the 1907 Hague Regulations prohibits "assassination, proscription, or outlawry of an enemy, or putting a price upon an enemy's head, as well as offering a reward for any enemy 'dead or alive.' "

Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) states "(e)veryone has the right to life, liberty and security of person."

In 1980, the Sixth United Nations Congress on the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders condemned "the practice of killing and executing political opponents or suspected offenders carried out by armed forces, law enforcement or other governmental agencies or by paramilitary or political groups."

The 1989 UN Principles on the Effective Prevention and Investigation of Extra-legal, Arbitrary and Summary Executions states:

"Governments shall prohibit by law all extra-legal, arbitrary and summary executions and shall ensure that any such executions are recognized as offenses under their criminal laws, and are punishable by appropriate penalties which take into account the seriousness of such offenses." 

"Exceptional circumstances, including a state of war or threat of war, internal political instability or any other public emergency may not be invoked as a justification of such executions." 

"(They) shall not be carried out under any circumstances including, but not limited to, situations of internal armed conflict, excessive or illegal use of force by a public official or other person acting in an official capacity or by a person acting at the instigation, or with the consent or acquiescence of such person, and situations in which deaths occur in custody. This prohibition shall prevail over decrees issued by governmental authority."

These laws and principles are universal, prohibiting murder and related violence at all times, under all circumstances, with no allowed exceptions.

On Saturday, assassins alleged to be Mossad operatives murdered Palestinian Mohammed Tahsin al-Bazam in Limmared, Sweden, a police statement saying:

"Reports said several people wearing masks entered the apartment through a balcony and shot the man inside. They disappeared after the shooting a quickly as they arrived."

Fatah in Gaza accused Israel of the assassination. His father said he was uninvolved in political activity.

A Gaza Facebook posting called him a "martyr who was murdered by his Jewish neighbor." It's unclear why he was killed. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said its embassy in Sweden awaits further information following a police investigation.

The 20-year-old victim's father is an imam in Sweden. He said his son was assassinated by two unidentified men, shooting him at close range in his apartment.

Throughout its existence, Mossad conducted numerous regional assassinations, some elsewhere - by lethal shootings, poisonings, roadside or car-bombings and other methods.

In February 2005, former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri was assassinated by a powerful car bomb targeting his motorcade, killing him and 11 others, scores injured from the blast.

Initially, Syria was falsely blamed, Hezbollah later wrongfully accused. Compelling visual and audio evidence revealed real time intercepted Israel aerial surveillance footage of routes Hariri used on the day his motorcade was attacked. 

Clearly, Israel was involved, the incident a typical Mossad assassination, a politicized killing - Mohammed Tahsin al-Bazam apparently its latest victim.

Israel had no comment on the incident, a tipoff of its likely involvement.
