US Wants Russia/Belarus Alliance Severed

Since Soviet Russia's 1991 dissolution, Washington broke its pledge not to expand NATO east.

It wants all former Soviet Republics and Warsaw Pact countries incorporated into the alliance - Russia marginalized, weakened, contained, surrounded and isolated, its sovereign independence destroyed by color revolution or war.

US Cold War strategy never ended, Sergey Lavrov earlier explained, a "regretful" situation fraught with risks. Like Russia, close ally Belarus is targeted for regime change.

Neocon/CIA-connected Washington Post editors called its  President Alexander Lukashenko Europe's "last dictator," claiming he's cracking down - on what appear to be externally-orchestrated protests, similar to ones in Moscow and other Russian cities days earlier.

US attempts to disrupt and end Belarus' special relationship with Russia failed so far. Moscow's ambassador in Minsk Alexander Surikov said efforts continue to woo Belarus away from close ties with Russia.

"All the actions by (Washington and) the West, on both the Ukrainian and Belarusian flanks, all these actions have an anti-Russian character," he explained.

"We understand that the next efforts will be directed at Belarus," similar to the US-orchestrated coup in Kiev.

"We can see that a variety of delegations have become frequent visitors to the country. We are looking at this closely, but understand that for now, the West does not have the strength to tear Belarus away from Russia," Surikov explained.

"And Belarus itself is not prepared to rush into the West's arms, breaking all their economic ties" with Moscow.

Noted for stability, orchestrated protests occurred recently, reflecting Western internal interference.

Lukashenko accused Washington and Berlin of "efforts to destroy the country," citing media revelations about US and EU governments, along with complicit NGOs, pouring "tens of millions of dollars" into Belarus for so-called "democracy promotion initiatives."

"(T)here will be no Maidan in Belarus," he stressed. In March, an SUV with weapons and explosives tried breaching its border from the Ukrainian side - US dirty hands likely involved.

Belarusian authorities aren't waiting for things to get out of control they way they unfolded in Kiev. A US-orchestrated coup followed, replacing its democratic government with Nazi-infested putschists.

April 2 was Unity Day, commemorating union between Russia and Belarus - based on a 1996 agreement, followed a year later on the same date for the Union between both countries.

On April 3, Putin and Lukashenko met in St. Petersburg for discussions on issues of mutual concern - sadly on the day the city was rocked by a likely terrorist attack.

Both leaders expressed condolences to families and loved ones of victims. Putin noted 25 years of bilateral diplomatic ties.

Lukashenko made similar comments, stressing the importance of "protect(ing) the interests of our people."

America's imperial viciousness threatens them.
