Destroying a Nation Without Firing a Shot

by Stephen Lendman

Predatory monied interests make serial killers look good by comparison. Their business model creates crises to facilitate grand theft, financial terrorism and debt entrapment.

They hold nations captive to their demands. They turn crises into humanitarian disasters. They create mass impoverishment, high unemployment, neo-serfdom and human wreckage.

They're more dangerous than standing armies. They wage war by other means. They're a malignancy ravaging societies and humanity for profit.

The Fed, ECB, Bank of England, IMF, World Bank et al and corrupted Western political officials serve their interests exclusively.

Greece is Exhibit A. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' Friday sellout to Troika bandits assures its destruction. It's already a zombie country.

Its people suffer hugely from deprivation. Yesterday's betrayal assures harder than ever hard times - a downward cycle to oblivion. Their choice is resist, starve or leave.

Tsipras-led SYRIZA's unconscionable capitulation defying overwhelming anti-austerity sentiment wrote Greece's obituary. He agreed to more punishing neoliberal harshness than voters rejected last Sunday.

Greek banks may not survive the crisis. SYRIZA lost its legitimacy. It wrote-off long-suffering millions - assuring them greater misery. It showed democracy no longer exists in its birthplace.

It proved the viciousness of predatory capitalism - a corrupted system profiting by inflicting pain and suffering, looting nations systematically, destroying fundamental freedoms, treating pensioners like yesterday's garbage, creating mass unemployment and poverty, and turning workers lucky to have jobs into impoverished serfs.

It prohibits governments of, by and for everyone equitably and fairly. It appropriates public wealth exclusively in private hands. It legitimizes the grandest of grand theft.

It wants corporate taxes minimized or abolished, regulations entirely eliminated. It insists social services be curtailed or ended. It considers unrestrained economic/financial freedom fundamental. It believes anything government can do, business does better so let it.

Human wreckage from its policies is ignored - a small price to pay so super-rich elites can use stolen money irresponsibly to make more of it.

It wants labor rights entirely eliminated. It wants mandated marketplace tyranny. It wants societies everywhere made democracy-free zones. It wants free market triumphalism instituted worldwide under rules monied interests write.

It treats people like garbage for profits. It wages wars for the same reason along with uncontested power. It creates an unprecedented chasm between filthy rich and desperately poor.

Inside the bubble, it's paradise for investors. Outside is fantasy democracy, social injustice, deplorable inequality, grinding poverty, unemployment, homelessness, hunger, sweeping surveillance, mass incarceration, disappearing human and civil rights and brutal crackdowns on dissent.

Neoliberal harshness creates the tyranny of master/serf dominance, sweeping money power and increasing debt bondage.

As long as wealth, power and privilege alone matter, institutionalized inequality will follow. Popular needs won't matter. Dickensian social injustice will flourish. So will increasing human suffering.

Money power in private hands assures the worst of all possible worlds - endless wars, punishing inequality, barbarous repression.

Greece's orchestrated tragedy can happen anywhere - created by financial war, destroying middle class societies, impoverishing millions, making nations unfit to live in.
