Popular Science August 1991 (it was strangely harder than I thought it should be to find) This article is over 20 yrs old and advancement has mirrored NASA's progress... and I know why,... we have become "captives of a scientific-technological elite".

Eisenhower:

Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been over shadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields.

 

In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers.

 

The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded.

 

Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.

 

It is the task of statesmanship to mold, to balance, and to integrate these and other forces, new and old, within the principles of our democratic system-ever aiming toward the supreme goals of our free society.”...

If you take the time to read the article you'll understand my concern about how simple solutions to common problems are often kept from those most able to benefit. Consolidators of power and control actively work to keep as many individuals as possible dependent on antiquated systems to prevent individual independence... from systems.

 

Our goal at Freedom's Phoenix for the 2013 calendar year is to DEMONSTRATE the ability of individuals to free themselves from the central power grid using current and demonstrated technology and chemistry.

As a young man I waited almost 40 years for humankind to free themselves from the physical and mental shackles of government to finally reach for the stars unfettered.

 

 

 

I'm not waiting for the independence of humanity to be provided when I know that we can do it ourselves.

 

Many are already working on the leading edge of Physics and Quantum Mechanics to provide us with the promised energy of Tesla and his inspired followers, they will be covered and often featured on Freedom's Phoenix. But we are focused on inspiring the development of Off the Shelf technology that will be repurposed to provide the independence humanity is destined for.

 

Using Open Source methods we will inspire the accumulative ability of individuals to free themselves from the herding of  humanity into government controlled electrically fenced in cities. So that we can begin the process of creating our own communities that are better suited for our individual pursuits of happiness.
