The Arizona End The War Now Coalition will be holding a march and picket line Saturday April 29, 2006, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Camelback Road from 24th Street to 22nd Street, the location of Senator Jon Kyl's office. The march and picket line will commemorate the third anniversary of President Bush's announcement of "Mission Accomplished." The April 29 Phoenix picket line is taking place in conjunction with the April 29 New York City "End the War, Bring All Our Troops Home Now" march called by United for Peace With Justice, www.unitedforpeace.org.

"Sixty five percent of Americans disapprove of the way that President Bush is handling Iraq (1)," said Mitchell Rubin, a spokesperson for the End the War Coalition. "Senator Kyl's consistent support of this military misadventure does not represent the majority of his constituents. It is time to hold Senator Kyl accountable for his role as an unquestioning cheerleader for President Bush's failed 'war of choice on Iraq' which has resulted in a quagmire."

In addition to the march and picket line on April 29, the Coalition will create a trail of blood from Senator Kyl's office dramatizing the unnecessary deaths caused by Senator Kyl's unquestioning support for the war. There will also be a "tug of war" between the money used in the Iraq war and and the money needed for health care, a "Wall of Fame" honoring the war dead, as well as a "Wall of Shame" of Administration officals who are responsible for these deaths.

Member groups of End The War Now Coalition include: Arizona Alliance for Peace and Justice (AAPJ), AZ Institute for Peace Education and Research (AIPER), AZOneVoice, AZ Christian Peacemakers, Code Pink, Progressive Democrats of America, Veterans for Peace, and Women in Black.
